Annual blackberry race

Kids walking the course. This is the ravine.

Just had our first xc race of the season. It went really well and the weather was beautiful. No rain!!! I had 3 runners finish first for their race. And I had 9 high school runners. Crazy!!! To think my first year I had only 1 high schooler.

This is a picture from my walk to school Friday morning (the day before the race). It was absolutely gorgeous. I knew it was a good omen, or at least that is what I was hoping.

Sorry it has been so long since my last post.  I got mono at home right before I came back, and then I have been more sick since I got back to Toksook.  It has been a crazy 3 weeks!!

Home

Nali and I made it home safely Monday morning. Nali is adjusting very well. Traveling wore her out. She has slept a lot since getting home.

At some point Nali thought it would be a good idea to stand on te table. Apparently there is nothing wrong with that. At home there will be no standing on the table. I'm not a Sure where she learned it, but I'm positive it has never been okay.

Prom & graduation

Prom was a couple weekends ago. The decorating was much better this year. Although the chocolate fountain exploded on some kids. But all in all it was a good time.
Graduation was the weekend after prom. I think we had like 10 graduates. One of the things that I find most bizarre is the way the walk in. You would think they should be getting married.

NYO

Sorry this is so late. A while ago I chaperoned our NYO kids. I had not seen an NYO meet since moving to Alaska. NYO stands for native youth Olympics. It's kind of like the track and field of rural Alaska. And it is really long. Our first night they did events from about 7-11. Then the next day we started at about 9 am and went til almost 11 pm. My favorite event to watch is the seal hop.
Also I ate a whole bag of chips while watching. The party size!

I'm so mean

Nali was sitting next to the table when we finished the jar of peanut butter. I stuck it on her nose. The funny thing is she didn't try to get it off right away, she just licked it. Silly girl. Needless to say she ran off with the jar and cleaned it out.

Half marathon adventure

IThis weeken Rachael and I met up in tacoma, WA to run a half marathon. It was lots of fun and I ran the whole thing. I wasn't sure if I would be able to because I had only ran on a treadmill and my longest run was 8 miles (which I only ran once). Most of my runs were 5-6 miles at the longest. Anyway we ate lots of good food and got to catch up with each other, as we hadn't seen each other in like 7 months. Here is a pic after we were finished and had made it back to the car. We were super happy to be done and sitting down :)
On Sunday we had time to go to Pike Place Market. We spent like 4 hours just walking around. It was a great place to be since it rained all day.
